Hi Friends,
Amongst all the widespread turmoil right now, there is still deliciousness to be found. In my own life, this is mostly found in moving back to Wales (The Dee Valley) - my own little dream of freedom. The freedom to put down roots, create and contribute the best way I possibly can, in a community and landscape with good measures of gentleness, beauty, grit and salt of the earth.
How did I start the process of bringing about this change? I put pen to paper and let myself dream, not just for my own life but as part of the whole. How would living somewhere new allow me to be a better fellow human, live in greater harmony with the earth, and be a good ancestor? From that handwritten vision onwards, things started to change. I started to take action and alter the energy I was putting out into the world.
If that sounds interesting, you might like to join this Letters to the Earth creative writing session I am facilitating for Something Club next Tuesday at 6.30pm UK time. Together we will dream our individual and collective dreams, and write a kinder, greener world into being.
I’d also like to share a dream of a sister, Jen Naylor from LOMAH collective. Jen is fundraising to buy or rent The Owl House, a neglected building next to her home in Glyn Ceriog with an intriguing past. Jen wants to revive and occupy the building, envisioning it as a nurturing, creative community space - home to many things, including a café, cookery lessons, a bookshop, wellbeing activities, social change and her gorgeous chocolate business. Watch this short video to learn about The Owl House and learn more/donate here. Jen has just a few days before the auction, and is asking for just £1 (or more) to support her project. Would you give a stranger £1 for a dream?
I hope this letter plants some seeds, while they are germinating I’ll continue with my painting and decorating. Hopefully I’ll be in touch around September time after my 40th birthday and some much needed celebrations!
Wishing you fruitful dreaming,
Emily
