Welcome all to a new monthly update letter I will send out on this list. These are somewhat more practical than my creative musings, and will contain interesting snippets to check out including events, workshops and some links to things I’ve been reading, watching, feeling and following over the month. These emails will sometimes contain online opportunities too for those futher afield, including a zoom hangout in March.
• Firstly, Dancing Circles is re-born! Dancing Circles is a dance and movement session based in North Wales. We gather in this dancing community to move, connect and explore new possibilities. Join us for the ‘soft launch’ in Froncycyllte on Thursday 23 March.
• Cydweithio | Collaborate is an exhibition at Llanfyllin Workhouse opening Friday 24 March, 7-9pm. The exhibition will be up for a month (opening hours tbc) and will showcase collaborations between artists and poets, including my collaboration with basket maker Rosie Larmour-Jones.
• Two musical walking opportunities in March for your creative perusal: A songwriting and walking workshop with Kate Allan and myself on Sunday 12 March. You may also be interested in this guided walk and improvised singing session hosted by Kate and Rosie McConnell on March 18th.
• Some more emerging joy: booking isn’t available for these quite yet but email me to register your interest. On Saturday 22 April I am hosting a landscape themed artist book workshop at The Rural Art hub, involving walking, making handmade books and mixed media art. Michelle Rose Boxley and I are also looking at dates for an art journalling retreat day, possibly in May or June. This will be in Kinver (near Stourbridge, UK).
• Zoom hangout: Join me on Friday 3rd March @ 10am GMT for a coffee on zoom. A lot of people reading this newsletter are creative types who would probably love to meet each other. We will chat, explore ideas together and maybe explore a short creative writing prompt or interesting question. The invite link and passcode are below. Please bring a natural object along to the meetup :)

Flotsam and Jetsam
As well as my events (and things friends are doing) I will also send you some interesting things that have come my way over the month. As a rather excitable novice gardener and permaculture fan, I was happy to discover Huw Richards’ videos on youtube. On the organic food front, a new weekly organic veg box from Babbinswood Farm (Shropshire and borders) has made a big difference to my energy. If you’re local, I really recommend their produce. For the neurodiverse-curious, Instagram continues to offer inspiration in the shape of Neurodivergent Lou.
What’s happening with these newsletters Emily?
Long-time subscribers may be confused about why there is suddenly a button asking them to upgrade to paid. You may also be unfamiliar with substack, which supports writers and creatives through the option of monthly or yearly donations. Via the paid version of this newsletter (£5 per month), I will share twice-monthly letters, invites to free online workshops and events and other gifts as a thank you for your support. Free subscribers will receive these general updates and occasional longer emails. There is a 7-day free trial if you’d like to read past pieces and check out the content I share. Do write back if you have any questions.
More news in March, onwards!
