April is slow; a month of waiting. Waiting on some big news, a potential diagnosis, for seedlings to flourish and the ease of mostly warmer days. I know that seeds planted will grow regardless of our silly human timescales, in their own time. This much is sure. Waiting provides a space to let go and surrender, to think about the deeper roots of things.
Below are some details of upcoming events and workshops, and I am delighted to share that Unpsychology Magazine have accepted my piece The Solace of Seeds for publication later this year. Read on if you’re interested in mental health for artists, an art journalling retreat or Ledbury Poetry festival…

ART JOURNALLING RETREAT
Michelle Rose Boxley and I are running an Art Journaling and Book Binding day retreat in Kinver and are so excited to share this with you. As freelance artists, we find art journaling essential for our creative process but also for mindfulness and self care. We will both be sharing why we journal and the incredible benefits from this practice as well as guiding you through creative prompts and art journaling techniques.
Part of the day will involve working in your own sketchbooks so please bring a blank sketchbook of your choice with you and then we will also be having a go at creating our own work books using book binding techniques. We will provide all other materials to work with on the day.
Refreshments will be provided but please bring your own lunch. Cost for the day is £60.00. To book in please email Chelle hello@thesoulshala.co.uk
UNDER THE POETREE at LEDBURY POETRY FESTIVAL
Join myself and Rachel Bowen in making a mindful temporary installation on Saturday 1st July, 11am-3pm in the Walled Garden. Using salvaged textiles, natural objects and letter stamping, we will co-create a beautiful poet-tree shrine in the walled garden. Please bring any second hand fabrics you'd like to use up in the workshop. There will be 20 minute mindfulness sessions at 12pm and 2pm. Free and for all ages.
